In the last year, I got even more into retro gaming with games I never played before, one of which I checked out was Contra, and I fell in love with this game, so much so that I bought the original NES cartridge this year and I also downloaded Contra 3 on my Virtual Console and to me it's the best in the series. Super C is another game I downloaded and it was harder but still awesome.

I also played Legecy of War which I own and it sucks. I am sorry I ever bought it.

And this year when it came out, I bought Contra 4, and only crap, that has to be the best of the Contra games so far, Konami and WayForward did a great job reviving the series to what it was and made it great again, The game is hard, the controls are solid, and the challenge is punishing, it kicks your ass. I love it so much. To any gamer fans, download Contra 3 and Super C on your Virtual Console and buy Contra 4.

I also resently got Contra: Shattered Soldier, it's a very very VERY hard game, but it plays well, and the challenge while punishing is fair for the most part.

I am going to submit more stamps on stuff I love aside from the Sonic series, I want to promote more of my favorite games so I can get others into them so I have more to talk with people about.

check out Contra Shattered Soldier for the PS2---its GREAT. Its not the best but it plays like old school contra with 3D graphics (its one of those 3D games on a 2D plane)

I'm more into the 2D side scrollers in the series and not the 3D's.

I have Contra III the Alien Wars on my Wii too, but not Super C, it's on my computer from the "Konami collectors edition" where it had all the Castlevania and Contra NES games. Super C was cool, but yeah it's hard, and it lacks the usual Konami Code.

And I agree with 4... Damn it's so awesome!

I too like the game,though my only gripe is the one hit syndrome.
Just figured the guy can take more hits but oh well.
9/10 good game with awsome music.

Actually, Super C comes included on Contra 4, so there's no real need to waste points for that. ^^;

Other than that, nice to see another gamer appreciating Contra like yourself. :nod:

Have you ever played Contra: Hardcorps for the Genesis? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was wrong w/ Legacy of War? No one really goes into specifics on why it sucks on the net. :doh:

yeah there is, the NES emulated games on the DS don't have the multiplayer, and that is the fun of Contra, so the VC ones are better, besides I prefer playing on a TV console anyway

Yay for Contra! Contra 4 is awesome (But I only beaten Easy and beaten 18 challenges), I even have Super C and Contra 3 on VC (I hope they get the first Contra soon)

Actually, they do have multiplayer, but here's the thing - apparently you can play as the second player using the A and X buttons while 1P uses B and Y (odd as hell if you ask me... O_o). Still, nothing beats playing Contra on the TV.

What was wrong with Legacy of War, if you don't mind me asking? Was it that bad?
